Double Standards

I put out my first ‘Boy to Girl’ tutorial in 2008, so it’s been something that I wanted to make a ‘Youtube’ staple and because I was aware each time I released one of the transphobia backlashes, I decided to modify them to introduce more ideas each time. Eventually, after about six of them, I got a positive reaction and I focused on facial anatomy, the hormonal impact of facial growth and more. When I entered each contest I completed and won, I did a gender transformation and because I am so drastically different in what appears to be a subtle way, it always made people think. So I decided to do something that was about current topics during 2016 and I was so horrified by the inhumane way in which people were debating amnesty to Syrian refugees, I wanted to do something that took the extremes. Two images that burned into my brain to represent the westernized idea of a man, was Marlon Brando and I think there was this like pin-up soldier movie that he starred in that was just in my mind. And I wanted to create an image that summarised this sort of American pie militia thing, super tanned and smoking. Then the second image was the national geographic cover of the girl with the green eyes. So I thought, let’s make a social comment on the glorification of soldiers off to war, to fight in these countries, and then the exoticism of a young girl with caucasian colouring in one of these countries, often castrated from their potential by Western interference.
