If you've been following my youtube for some time, I've been in absolute stasis regarding my homes here in Brighton! I actually keep my locations pretty open on my lesser followed social media as I often list being in London on the main things to keep some anonymity, but I grew up in Brighton and this is where my family are.
So my first huge move happened when I was 22, I moved into a £700,000 apartment just off of Palmeira Square in Hove, and it was pretty fab! I've done a house tour on my channel before, it was a work designed apartment and I had a room designed for Youtube, I had a huge space to live in and a huge bedroom. It was very self contained, however I had an extremely difficult time towards the middle of 2015 with the layout of the complex. I attempted to move at this time but met with several obstacles trying to liaise with the actual owners of the property as I was being actively misled by the building management team who actually worked within the building itself. So it was not a comfortable situation for me and it escalated to a point where I had to really fight to get the basics sorted out.
In sync with this home, I also lived in a second home that was outside of central Brighton so it was a happy situation for me to be in, having an area to work from and an area to live in. During the end of April, we had a succession of bizarre things happen all in one week, it was the anniversary of me winning YouGen, my grandfather then passed away, I had a huge youtube hack on my channel and then we finally got resolution about the work apartment! So we made plans to skidaddle and I was able to move!
So in sequence to this, I also became a property owner for the very first time! I'm trying to always do things in a way that I can build momentum as a business person and getting my first property was an ambition that I wanted to achieve by the time I reached 26, I didn't think it was gonna happen but at the last minute, shebam. So what I decided to do, was move into my second home outside of Brighton full time, put my main furniture which was extensive at this point into storage, and refocus my ambitions.
When Cardi first came onto the scene I saw her in another rappers video, I had no idea she was doing music and I didn't really take it too seriously. But this song off the first mixtape actually hit home to me and it includes a Mary J sample. It's also produced by her manager who also was responsible for one of Lil Kim's songs so I think it was an instinctual thing haha. But the message in it is really important, because I remember a time where I had just come home from working in Tokyo and it was the beginning of 2009. My parents had a really horrific end to their relationship and the moment we decided to part ways, the family house we grew up in subsided. So we were in a truly horrendous situation where we needed to repair the building to sell it. I didn't imagine that my mum, who's worked so hard for us our entire life would be in a position where she didn't have a house anymore, so being able to do what I could do help her have a home was such an important goal for me and I'm excited that we got there! Being 25 and being in a position where I could do that, I didn't think it was gonna be at this stage in my career I haven't even crossed over into the real world yet lol!
So here we are today! I'm looking for my new work apartment as I like that dynamic. My man friend has several properties in town including this house I've been dreaming of for like two years and mentioning in blogs, so I will be giving everyone a house tour of the mansion ala Mariah Carey cribs at some point lol! So excited I've been able to win despite all odds and I will look forward to updating everyone soon!
