JECCA BLAC by Joseph Harwood x Jessica Blackler
In 2013 I started designing trans oriented videos called the Boy to Girl tutorial, which led me to mixing up products for beard coverage and contouring. I designed these and they were published in the Daily Mail that year. I then started to get viral acclaim, before Jessica Blackler found my work online, and used my tutorials to open a trans focused salon in Wales. She offered a dressing service and reached out to me in 2017 to be involved with her brand Jecca. I explained my move to consultancy and my want to make the transition community more visible, and we agreed to enter an exclusive partnership.
After sharing my existing designs, we entered a partnership agreement where we designed the Sculpt and Soften and Conceal and relaunch the Correct Palette, with a guidebook full of my tutorial information and my unique colour blends. I then worked with her on the launch and rebrand, won awards for both products and then consulted with L’Oreal internally at their OUT @ movement. We planned a Trans Festival and I introduced influencers like Ellis Atlantis for events like Drag World, and it became a smash. During that set up, these products sold over 2m units as audited by Jecca.
